Deadline extension: Invitation for input to the Anti-Slavery Commissioner’s Strategic Plan
The Anti-Slavery Commissioner’s Office has extended the deadline for stakeholders to provide input to the Strategic Plan by two weeks to Friday 11 April 2025.
Australia’s inaugural Anti-Slavery Commissioner Chris Evans said, “the Office appreciates the high level of interest and engagement we have received from stakeholders to date. As a reflection of this, we have extended the deadline for submitting written responses to inform the Strategic Plan to 11 April 2025.”
The Commissioner further noted, “I recognise that organisations and agencies often operate with limited resources and within established approval processes, and I wish to emphasise that responses will be treated with equal seriousness regardless of length and formality.”
“I intend to continue to work collaboratively with all stakeholders who are working to progress the agenda to end slavery in Australia, including people with lived experience, civil society, business and Government. I note that there will be further opportunities for consultation and collaboration, both as part of the process to develop the Strategic Plan and throughout my term as Commissioner.”
A Strategic Plan is a requirement of the Modern Slavery Act 2018 (Cth). On 7 March 2025, stakeholders were invited to submit written responses to a set of questions on the Commissioner’s key priorities, objectives, actions, and measurements of progress to inform the Plan’s development.
